What's New?

Dear Patients,

Life has been anything but normal this Spring and we sincerely hope that you and your family are in good health. We are happy to inform you that we are now able to once again provide dental care for you and your family. The Ministry of Health has lifted the restrictions placed back in March.

While many things have changed since then, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your health and safety. Our office has always followed strict infection control standards in order to keep us all protected during this pandemic and in the future. We have updated our protocols and continue to remain vigilant for updates as new evidence emerges. When we see you at your next appointment, things will be a little different.

Booking Your Appointment:
  • When we call you to book your next appointment, you will be asked the COVID screening questions. You will be asked the same questions one day before your appointment and right before your appointment at the office.
    • The screening questions ask if you have had contact with anyone with COVID-19 and/or have symptoms that suggests an infection.
    • The reason why we ask this many times is that we understand that our patients may live an active life. Anything can happen within a day or a few hours. We want to make our office a safe environment for everyone.
    • Please go to the very bottom of the page to see this document.

Preparing for Your Appointment:
  • Please ensure that you bring your own mask to the appointment. You will be asked to wear your mask throughout your visit to our office. You will be asked to remove it only during your treatment.
  • Please bring your own pen to use when you sign documents in the office.
  • Please expect that only patients will be allowed to enter the clinic, with the exception of persons who need assistance (e.g., parents/guardians of young children, caregivers of the elderly, translators, etc.).

Upon Arrival:
  • You are asked to give our office a call at 416-221-2195 and inform us upon arriving at our building. You will be informed if you are ready to be seen.
  • When we are ready to see you, expect the following to happen at the reception area:
    • Your temperature will be taken using a contact-less forehead thermometer.
    • Your blood oxygen will be measured by using a pre-disinfected oximeter on your index finger.
    • A receptionist will ask you the screening questions once again.
    • You will be asked to go through the Acknowledgement Form (see file in the bottom of this page) and initial all sentences that are applicable.
    • You may be asked to wait briefly in the waiting area.
      • The chairs in the waiting area have already been spaced out to allow for physical distancing.
      • The waiting area is also equipped with a Surgical Clean Air unit that actively filters and sterilizes the air in the vicinity.
    • When your dental providers are ready to bring you in, you will be asked to perform hand hygiene prior to entering the dental room. You will be brought in by one of our caring staff, who will be wearing their personal protective equipment (PPE).

Office Set-Up and Maintenance:
  • You will notice that there will be more barriers present than what you are used to. Each room is sealed off to ensure that any aerosols produced in the office is contained within the room.
  • Magazines and/or toys will no longer be available in the reception area for sanitary reasons.
  • There will be markings on the floor at the reception area that complies with physical distancing between patients.
  • There will be signage in the office to remind you to maintain physical distance from other patients.
  • Each room contains a Surgical Clean Air unit that effectively filters and destroys pollutants and viruses in the air, ensuring the highest and cleanest air quality for you and your family.
  • We have increased sanitizing rounds to ensure that high-touch surfaces are routinely disinfected for your safety.

Treatment:
  • Before we begin your treatment, you will be asked remove your mask and rinse with 1% hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse for 60 seconds.
    • It is anecdotal, but it is recommended by Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario to use as a precaution to decrease potential viral particles inside the mouth.
  • We will avoid doing procedures that generate aerosols. This means that our dental hygienists will mainly be using hand-instruments to perform your scaling.
  • You will notice that your dental providers will be wearing more PPE than what you are used to. This is for both your protection and our staff's protection as we are working in close contact with your mouth. Though we are nearly unrecognizable under all that gear, we are still the same warm and caring team that you remember!

After Your Appointment:
  • When you complete your treatment, you will be asked to put your mask back on prior to leaving the room.
  • You will be directed back to the reception area. If there is a patient ahead of you, please abide by the markings on the floor.
  • After you have been checked out, you will once again be asked to perform hand hygiene using hand sanitizer.
  • Important: We ask each of you to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 up to 14 days of your visit. Should you develop any symptoms within the time period, you are asked to contact our office and inform our staff.

Your appointments will take longer than what you have previously experienced and it may appear overwhelming at first, but rest assured that all these additional protocols are designed to create the safest environment for you, other patients, and our team. We are here to support you and make sure that you are comfortable during your visit to our clinic.

We look forward to seeing you again. If you have any questions, please let us know at 416-221-2195 or email us at drlin@trinitydentalcentre.ca.

Thank you for your patience and loyalty throughout this ordeal. We value your trust and look forward to welcoming you back!

Stay Safe and Healthy,

Smile, God loves you!
